The European Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee voted unanimously for both demands.

It was by a unanimous vote on the deputies of the European Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee that this morning voted to lift the immunities of Marc Tarabella and Andrea Cozzolino. “An unambiguous vote,” said Manon Aubry, rapporteur for both files, when she left.

The vote must now be confirmed in plenary on Thursday.

“Never before has the Legal Affairs Committee ruled so quickly,” commented the member for La Gauche. We wanted to act quickly so that Justice could do its job. »

On the other hand, she said she was “more worried” about the political reforms that Qatargate should initiate. “The institutional proposals are largely buried by President Roberta Metsola and the political groups. Today nothing can guarantee what will happen given the weak political response. However, the credibility of this Parliament and of European democracy depends on it”.
