University of Bergen is recruiting an EU adviser for its office in Brussels

International collaboration, specifically via international research, education, and innovation, is essential to achieve UiB’s goals. To this end, UiB aims to increase our visibility and impact at the European level as well as our participation in the European Research, Innovation and education programmes in prioritized areas.

The UiB Brussels Office works strategically to strengthen European cooperation and the opportunities in the EU’s framework programmes. In Brussels, we work specifically to increase UiB’s visibility and impact at the European level. The office liaises between actors in Brussels and the home institution in Bergen and offers strategic advice and support. The office also works closely with other university offices and various R&I actors situated in Brussels to foster collaboration and enhance UiB’s international network.

The UiB Brussels Office was established in 2015 and is located in the European Quarter of Brussels together with three other research organizations from Norway, at the Norwegian House of Research and Innovation (NOHRI). UiB is currently represented by the Head of Office, and the office hosts two student interns per semester. We are now strengthening our capacity at the Brussels office, and the EU adviser will be an integral part of the team and take part in the broad range of the office’s activities.

The EU adviser is expected to:

  • Promote and organize UiB initiatives and events in Brussels
  • Manage the external communication platforms of the Brussels Office
  • Perform various tasks related to managing the day-to-day running of the office
  • Follow and analyze political developments and processes within thematic areas that are of interest to the University of Bergen
  • Be a part of UiB’s representation in Brussels, contributing to the visibility work and information uptake
  • Contribute to the work of the Brussels office related to providing EU policy advice to UiB leadership, research groups, and scientific support staff

After appointment, there may be changes in the areas of work.

The EU advisor is based in Brussels and will report to the Head of the UiB Brussels Office and the Division of Research and Innovation at the University of Bergen. The Division of Research and Innovation has a highly qualified staff of 37 employees and provides strategic advice to UiB leadership and researchers. The Brussels Office is an integral part of the Division’s strategic EU initiatives.
